Application
She remembers that he served under a
Captain Morgan when they resided in Louden County Virginia against the Indians
six months and other services against Indians towards the Red Stone & across
the Allegheny mountains to the Cherokee tribe.
In 1776 she thinks under the command of a General or Colonel Christa
[probably Col. William Christian] five months service = and the last he went as
a Sargeant under a Captain Pawlin
[probably Captain Henry Pauling] from Botetourt County Virginia & was gone
six months at least in which he stated he had been in the Battle of Guilford
North Carolina [March 15, 1781].

Pension Application states:
Enlisted in the County of Halifax for three
years under Lieutenant Cornelius Collins of Captain Robert Walton's Company in
what year, he does not now recollect -- that he was attached to the 2nd Georgia
Regiment on Continental establishment as he is informed by General Littleberry Mosby & verily believes that said Regiment
was commanded by Colonel Samuel Elbert that he was drummer of the 2nd Company
attached to said Regiment which company after Captain Walton's left it was
commanded by Captain Edward Wood -- that he was in the battles of Midway
meeting house and Savannah,[Attested by Samuel Williams, Clerk] that he, together with the most of his
Company, was captured at Savannah & was detained a prisoner about nine
months that after remaining on board a prison ship, Some time he was exchanged
at Savannah that he served in the said Regiment for upwards of 2 years.
Midway Church on November 20, 1778.
General Howe's attempt to take Savannah in late December 1778.
